Things You'll Need:
- Velcro rollers (large barrel)
- Comb
- Hair dryer
- Damp hair
- Hair spray, mousse or other styling aid
-
Step 1
Start with damp hair for the best results. You may choose to do this right out of the shower with towel dried hair, or you can re-dampen your hair with a spray bottle. If you are using a styling aid that must be hand applied instead of sprayed, add this to your hair now.
-
Step 2
Part your hair as you naturally would. After using rollers, you will want to brush your hair as little as possible, so make sure to part your hair before adding rollers.
-
Step 3
Put in the rollers. To do this, take rectangular sections of hair as wide as the roller and section them off using a comb. Hold the section out, away from your scalp, and comb it so it's flat. Place the roller at the end of this section and, using both hands, roll the hair onto the roller from end to root.
-
Step 4
Secure the roller at the root of the hair. Most velcro rollers are self-attaching, but if you must, bobby pins will help in securing them properly.
-
Step 5
Repeat this process throughout your hair, until there is no loose hair.
-
Step 6
Wait until the hair in the rollers has dried. For a quicker method, blow dry your hair through the rollers on high heat. This option helps hold the volume longer.
-
Step 7
Begin to remove the rollers. You can do this by gentling unrolling them from the scalp to the ends of your hair.
-
Step 8
Flip hair upside down and spray with hairspray or another spray-hold product for a tousled look or simply finger-style and spray for a more natural look.
