How to Make Fruit Jam Empanadas!

This is a fun recipe to make with or for children and also adults.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1/2 cup softened butter
  • 1 3 ounce package cream cheese
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup fruit jam or thick fruit preserves
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar mixed with 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  1. Step 1

    Cream together the butter and cheese.

    When mixture is smooth, blend in the flour.

  2. Step 2

    Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for four hours.

    When ready to bake, remove from fridge and leave to rest for approximately 1/2 hour.

  3. Step 3

    Heat oven to 375 degrees.

    Roll out on lightly floured board until approximately 1/8 inch thick.

    Cut into four inch circles.

    In the centre of each circle place a scant teaspoon on jam.

  4. Step 4

    Dampen edge with water. Fold in half, pressing edge firmly.

    Bake on unbuttered pans for approximately 15 minutes.

    Remove from oven and roll immediately in the sugar, cinnamon mixture.

    Cool on racks. Enjoy!
