With dishwashers so popular, most people never give a thought to washing drinking glasses by hand. It’s possible though to have some drinking glasses, such as antiques or heirlooms, that you may feel are too fragile or delicate to be put into the dishwasher. Washing them will only take a few moments and when done, you will have clean, spot free glasses that you will be proud to serve drinks in.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Water
  • Sponge or dishrag
  • Dishtowel
  1. Step 1

Fill the sink with hot, soapy water. Gently immerse each glass into the water. Scrub the glass inside and out with a sponge or dishrag.

  2. Step 2

Rinse the glass with clear, clean water. Pay special attention to making sure you have rinsed out all of the soap solution from the inside of the glass. Set the glass on a drain board or dishtowel.

  3. Step 3

Repeat with all the glasses that need to be washed.

  4. Step 4

Use a clean dishtowel to dry each glass inside and out. This will prevent any spotting that can cause a clean glass to look dirty.

Tips & Warnings
  • Line the bottom of the sink with a dishtowel or dishrag before putting in any glasses. This can help prevent breakage if a glass accidentally slips from your hand.
  • If the glasses are extremely fragile, wash and dry each one separately. Putting too many glasses into the sink at one time can cause chipping and breaking as the glasses clink together.
  • Always wash and dry glasses over the sink. This way if a glass drops and breaks, cleanup will be easier as all the broken glass will be contained in one place.
