Things You'll Need:
- Shirt and skirt i(brown or green)
- Variety of silk flowers
- Small twigs
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Fake birds and other small animals
- Barrette
- 1/2 yard coordinating fabric
-
Step 1
Purchase the supplies you will need for the costume. You can find old shirts and skirts at a thrift store if you do not have them, and it will save you money. The fake birds, animals, twigs and silk flowers can be found at any local craft store. The bigger selection you find, the more authentic your costume will look.
-
Step 2
Lay out the clothing on newspaper or on the floor to assemble your costume. Don't wear the clothing while using a hot glue gun as it will burn you. Lay out the fake birds, animals, twigs and flowers on the clothing
-
Step 3
Heat the glue gun and attach everything. The best part about this costume is that you can get creative and add as much or as little as you would like. Glue the twigs and flowers to the clothing and the birds and animals to your shoes as you do not want them to weigh the costume down. You can even perch a bird on your shoulder.
-
Step 4
Glue one bird to the barrette. This will make it look like there is a bird perched in your hair and it gives the costume a whimsical detail. You can use a wider barrette for a larger bird to make it more sturdy. To give it added sturdiness, wrap the feet to the barrette with heavy wire.
-
Step 5
Cover shoes with a piece of coordinating fabric to attach fake small animals. This way you will not ruin the shoes. Glue the birds to the fabric and attach the fabric to your shoe. This will complete your costume.
