How to Change a Text Message Alert Sound on a Verizon LG Phone
The sound you hear when you receive a text message can be changed on a Verizon LG cellphone. You can change it to a more pleasing sound, or you can change it so that you simply have a different sound than someone else in your household. This will eliminate any confusion about who just received a text message.

Open the phone and click the “Menu” button.

The center keypad above the numerical keys can click up, down, left and right. Click right until you see the “Settings & Tools” option.

Click “Alert Sounds.”

Click “TXT Message.”

Select the ring or sound you wish to hear when a text message arrives. You can preview the sound by clicking “Play” and then "OK" when you've found the sound you want.

To make it so that you don’t hear any sound when a text message comes in, select “No Ring” at Step 6.
