      Obtain a driver’s license in the state of Ohio. Driving is a basic part of the job. As such, you will be required to have a valid driver's license before you can apply for the job.

      Get a college education. You will need to have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree before you will be considered for the position, and preference is given to those who have a Master’s Degree. Your degree will need to be in wildlife, biology related sciences, or something related to the management of natural resources.

      Maintain a clean criminal history so that you can pass an extensive background check. As an Ohio Wildlife Game Officer, you will serve as a peace officer. This means that you will be required to carry a firearm on the job. A felonious criminal history will preclude you from being able to obtain the proper weapons permits.

      Keep your body in top physical condition. You will be subjected to a rigorous physical examination prior to the application process. You must be fit in order to perform your duties on a day to day basis. Working as a wildlife game warden will require extensive hiking and unforeseen physical exertion.

      Apply for a job with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (DNR). This is the government body that oversees wildlife in the state of Ohio.
