Instructions

    • 1

Before your guests arrive, write individual action words (adverbs) on slips of paper. Place them in the bowl or box.

    • 2

If you sense you need something to get the conversation going, pull out the bowl and ask each guest to select a slip of paper from the bowl.

    • 3

After everyone has one, let them know that you'll be calling out simple instructions and they are to follow the instructions, but to do it in the manner of their chosen word.

    • 4

For example, you might say, "tell us about yourself" and watch as guests do it flamboyantly, shyly, sexily, politically correct, newscaster-ishly, innocently and so on.

Here are more topics for your grab bag:

      • Make a toast to friendship
      • Ask your date what they find sexy about you
      • Walk into the room
      • Sing Happy Birthday

    • 6

As this is taking place throughout dinner, have guests try to guess each other's action words.
