How to Install a Sun Roof in a Mitsubishi 3000GT
Most Mitsubishi 3000GT models came with a factory sunroof but for the few that didn't, installing an aftermarket sunroof is a great idea. 1
Prepare the work area by laying out the tools and checking to ensure all of the required parts came with the sunroof. Read the installation guide carefully as the process can vary slightly between sunroofs.
-
2
Lay a sheet over the interior for protection and hold the shade tray up on the roof. Ensure there is at least 4 inches of clear space in every direction. Center the tray and mark the corners with a screwdriver. Push the screwdriver through the headliner and dimple the roof just enough to enable locating the position from outside.

3
Remove the headliners and any supporting board from the roof of the Mitsubishi 3000GT. Secure the template to the roof of the car with tape by lining up the dimples made earlier. Make a hole through the roof at the point of a dimple and cut out the roof with the metal shears by following the template carefully.

4
Smooth the metal edges with a file to limit leaking. Test fit the sunroof to ensure a proper fit and apply metal primer around the edges of the opening.
-
5
Run a bead of sealant around the inner lip of the sunroof and set it in place. Hook the clamping ring and screws to the frame being careful not to overtighten. Clean up any excess sealant that squeezed out. Make any necessary alterations to the headliner with a razor knife and set it back in place.
