Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Sunroof kit
  • Screwdrivers
  • Sheet or tarp
  • Metal grinder
  • Drill and bits
  • Sheet metal shears
  • Metal file
  • Metal primer
  • Sealant
  1. Step 1

Place the necessary tools and sunroof parts in the work area for easy access. Push the seats of the Galant all the way back and cover the interior with a sheet or tarp to protect the dash and seats. Remove the headliner and support boards.

  2. Step 2

Hold the shade tray to the interior of the roof and make a small dimple at each corner with a screwdriver. Tape the template to the top of the roof, using the dimples as a guide.

  3. Step 3

Use a metal grinder to remove the heavy brace across the center of the sunroof placement. Start grinding one inch on each side of the future opening and smooth the edges with a file.

  4. Step 4

Drill a starter hole through one of the dimples and cut out the roof by following the template. Cut the support brace an additional 1 inch on each side for a cleaner fit. Smooth the edges with a file and test fit the sunroof. Make any necessary adjustments and coat the bare edges of the opening and the heavy brace with metal primer.

  5. Step 5

Set the sunroof in place and connect the clamping ring and screws taking care not to overtighten or strip anything. Clean off any excess sealant with a rag.

  6. Step 6

Assemble the rest of the sunroof by following the instructions in the sunroof's manual. Replace the headliner, making adjustments with a razor knife.
