Place the necessary tools and sunroof parts in the work area for easy access. Push the seats of the Galant all the way back and cover the interior with a sheet or tarp to protect the dash and seats. Remove the headliner and support boards.

Hold the shade tray to the interior of the roof and make a small dimple at each corner with a screwdriver. Tape the template to the top of the roof, using the dimples as a guide.

Use a metal grinder to remove the heavy brace across the center of the sunroof placement. Start grinding one inch on each side of the future opening and smooth the edges with a file.

Drill a starter hole through one of the dimples and cut out the roof by following the template. Cut the support brace an additional 1 inch on each side for a cleaner fit. Smooth the edges with a file and test fit the sunroof. Make any necessary adjustments and coat the bare edges of the opening and the heavy brace with metal primer.

Set the sunroof in place and connect the clamping ring and screws taking care not to overtighten or strip anything. Clean off any excess sealant with a rag.

Assemble the rest of the sunroof by following the instructions in the sunroof's manual. Replace the headliner, making adjustments with a razor knife.
