Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Sunroof kit
  • Sheet or tarp
  • Screwdrivers
  • Drill and bits
  • Wire nuts
  • Sheet metal shears
  • File
  • Metal primer
  • Sealant
  • Razor knife
  1. Step 1

Lay out all of the tools and check the sunroof package to ensure all of the parts are in working order. Place a sheet or tarp over the Caravan interior to protect the seats and dash.

  2. Step 2

Place the shade cover on the inside of the roof and ensure there is at least 4 inches of clear space on each side. Poke a screwdriver through the headliner and dimple the roof slightly at each corner.

  3. Step 3

Remove the overhead console and terminate the wires with wire nuts. Pull out the headliner, support board and roof bracket.

  4. Step 4

Tape the template to the roof using the dimples as a guide. Drill a hole through one of the dimples and cut out the roof with metal shears by following the template. File the edges of the hole and set the sunroof frame in place to ensure it fits. Make any necessary adjustments and apply metal primer around the edge to inhibit rust.

  5. Step 5

Clean the bottom of the sunroof and apply a bead of sealant around the lip. Set the frame in place and connect the clamping ring and screws taking care not to overtighten or strip them.

  6. Step 6

Assemble the rest of the sunroof per the manual's instructions and replace the headliner. Make any alterations necessary to the headliner with a razor knife.

Tips & Warnings
  • Lubricate the sunroof seals once a year with silicon to help the sunroof resist leaking.
