Instructions

    • 1

Prepare the work area by laying out all of the tools and read the sunroof manual carefully. Push the front seats all the way back and cover the interior of the Impala with a sheet or tarp to protect the seats.

    • 2

Hold the shade tray up to the roof and ensure there is at least 4 inches of clear space on every side. Poke a screwdriver through the headliner at one corner of the shade tray. Use enough pressure to dent the roof slightly and repeat at each corner.

    • 3

Tape the template to the top of the roof, using the dents as a guide. Drill a small hole through on of the dents and cut out the roof with the metal shears by following the template.

    • 4

File the edges of the opening and test fit the sunroofs frame by setting it in the hole. Make any necessary adjustments and coat the metal edges with primer.

    • 5

Clean the bottom of the sunroof frame and run a bead of sealant around the lip. Set the frame in place and connect the clamping ring and screws being careful not to overtighten the hardware. Assemble the rest of the sunroof and replace the headliner. Make any needed alterations with a razor knife.

Tips & Warnings

  • Installing a sunroof improperly causes wind noise, leaks and alignment problems.
