Step 1
Turn the vehicle off. Don't turn the car on while servicing the air filter, as it is dangerous to do so because the engine can backfire.
-
Step 2
Lift the hood of the Grand Cherokee. Locate the air filter housing unit on the passenger side of the car, in front of the engine coolant reservoir, in the front corner. Look for a black, plastic box that has a hose attached to it that leads to the engine.
-
Step 3
Remove the lid on the air filter housing unit by loosening the clips that hold it in place. Lift the lid off of the unit.
-
Step 4
Pull the old filter from the housing unit. Remove any remaining dirt and debris out of the air filter unit. Wipe the housing unit surfaces with a damp cloth.
-
Step 5
Place the new air filter in the housing unit. Use a K&N air filter, part number 33-2233, for an Jeep Grand Cherokee manufactured during the years 2005 to 2008. Locate older Grand Cherokee air filters online or at your local auto supply store.
-
Step 6
Put the lid back on the housing unit. Fasten the clips to hold the lid securely in place.
