Instructions

    • 1

Lay out the entire replacement brake line kit for your model year Spectra. Know each section and which end of the car it goes to.

    • 2

Lift the car on jack stands to remove the first wheel. Trace the brake line from the hose to the last section connected by bolts. Bend the replacement line in the same way to minimize strain.

    • 3

Remove the brake line by disconnecting the bolts with two line wrenches. There should be two bolts on each connector.

    • 4

Install the replacement brake line. Attach the bolts by hand first, then tighten them with the line wrenches.

    • 5

Bleed the brake system to remove air from it. Open the bleeder valve on the caliper, attach a hose and place the other end in a container of brake fluid. Have another person hold down on the pedal to purge the air.

    • 6

Replace the wheel and move onto the next brake section.

    • 7

Fill the brake fluid reservoir located on the driver's side behind the air filter box. Test the brakes after all lines are replaced.

Tips & Warnings

  • Topping off the brake fluid reservoir before removing the line can prevent unnecessary loss of fluid. You can also plug the holes with rubber or another material that won't absorb the fluid.

  • If your Kia Spectra has anti-lock brakes, review any special instructions with a mechanic before you begin.
