Installing a car alarm in the Plymouth Neon provides added security and possibly lower insurance payments. Putting an alarm in the Plymouth Neon is the same for the Chrysler and Dodge versions of the Neon but slight variations in wiring make a wiring diagram necessary for a successful installation. Installing a car alarm requires a working knowledge of car electrical systems and connection methods.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Alarm kit with vehicle wiring adaptors
  • Zip ties
  • Drill
  • Screwdrivers
  1. Step 1

Read the alarm manual carefully and ensure you clearly understand the connection methods and placements for the unit selected. Open the hood and disconnect the positive battery cable.

  2. Step 2

Mount the alarm siren in an open area of the engine bay and run the wires to the driver's side of the firewall. Connect the alarm power wire to the positive battery cable and feed all of the wires through the firewall in front of the steering wheel. Drill a new hole if necessary.

  3. Step 3

Install the shock sensor per the manual's recommendation and pull the wires to the driver side of the dash. Locate the power lock relay near the fuse box if equipped and attach the power lock module.

  4. Step 4

Drill a hole in a highly visible location on the dash of the Plymouth Neon for the LED light and secure the bulb in place. Identify the starter wire in the ignition harness behind the steering wheel and connect the start disable relay. Run all of the wires to the dash.

  5. Step 5

Connect all of the wires to the alarm control module and secure the module as far into the dash as possible. The more difficult it is to install the better.

  6. Step 6

Reconnect the positive battery cable and test the alarm. Adjust the alarm sensitivity levels as desired and secure any loose wires with zip ties.
