How to Install a Car Alarm in a Jeep Grand Cherokee

      Read the alarm manual carefully and identify all of the parts and connections. Open the hood, disconnect the positive battery cable and attach the alarm power wire to the cable.

      Mount the alarm siren in an open area with the siren facing the engine to limit water exposure while driving. Run all of the wires to the driver's side of the firewall. Feed the wires through the firewall, drilling a new hole if necessary. Reach under the dash and pull the wires into the cabin.

      Drill a hole in the dash or center console for the LED light and snap it into place. If the Jeep Grand Cherokee has power locks, locate the power lock relay under the dash. Connect the alarm lock module and let the wires hang from the dash.

      Identify the starter wire in the ignition bundle behind the steering wheel. Attach the start disable relay and secure the wires in the dash with zip ties.

      Install the shock sensor per the manufacturer's instructions and mount any additional alarm options. Connect all of the wires to the alarm control module and secure it as far into the dash as possible.

      Reconnect the positive battery cable and test the alarm. Adjust the alarm sensitivity level if desired and secure any loose wires with zip ties.
