How to Replace the Taillights in a Saturn Ion

- Standard 3457AST automotive bulb
- Tissue or paper towel

Place the Saturn Ion in park and set the parking brake. Remove the keys to ensure the power to the electrical system is off.

Open the trunk and locate the plastic taillight assembly, and ensure you have clear access. Unscrew two torx bolts in the assembly with a T-15 torx screwdriver.

Pull the assembly free and tug gently on the harness until the bulb releases. Take care not to touch the glass of the new 3457AST bulb by covering it with a tissue or paper towel.

Push the new bulb into the harness until it snaps into place. Press the new bulb and harness into the taillight assembly.

Test the new bulb, brake light and turn signal to ensure they are working properly. Screw the plastic cover back in place and close the trunk.

Always carry extra bulbs when traveling to ensure a replacement is available.
Consider upgrading to a brighter, longer lasting LED bulb. Always replace both bulbs when upgrading to ensure a uniform look for the car.
