Things You'll Need:
- Power steering fluid or automatic transmission fluid for use in Plymouth vehicles
-
Step 1
Check the power steering fluid in your Plymouth Voyager every 7,500 miles to make sure that the fluid is not low. You can check the fluid sooner if you are having trouble steering or suspect a leak, but you should not otherwise have to add fluid sooner than 60,000 miles.
-
Step 2
Park your car on a level surface and allow at least half an hour for the engine to cool before you check the power steering fluid level. Warm power steering fluid reads at a different level from cold power steering fluid and will cause an incorrect reading.
-
Step 3
Locate the power steering fluid reservoir in the engine department. The reservoir should be labeled.
-
Step 4
Remove the cap and pull out the dipstick. Clean the dipstick off using a rag and re-insert into the reservoir, removing the dipstick again to read the fluid level. If the fluid is below the low level mark, add fluid very gradually to avoid filling above the maximum level mark.
-
Step 5
Inspect the reservoir and surrounding hoses and clamps for loose, worn or broken parts that may cause a leak in the power steering system. Hot power steering fluid leaking into your engine can severely damage your Plymouth Voyager.
