The Mitsubishi 3000GT is no longer manufactured, but that doesn't mean there aren't devoted GT drivers who need maintenance help. An oil change for this car requires a 14mm socket wrench, an oil filter wrench and 4 quarts of oil. Refer to your owner's manual for when to change the oil and which type to use.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Car jacks
  • Jack stands or ramps
  • Wrenches
  • Cleaning cloths
  • Oil pan
  • Filter
  • Oil
  1. Step 1

Lift your Mitsubishi 3000GT with a jack and place the car on jack stands. If you don't have jack stands, drive the car onto a set of wheel ramps.

  2. Step 2

Pop the hood and remove the dipstick and oil filler cap. These components are usually near the engine, with the dipstick having a yellow handle. Gather an oil drip pan, 14mm wrench, oil filter wrench, cleaning cloths and a new oil filter. Slide under your 3000GT.

  3. Step 3

Locate the oil filter and oil drain plug underneath your Mitsubishi. The oil drain plug is to the left front of the oil pan on the driver side. The filter is on the bottom of the engine block.

  4. Step 4

Remove the oil drain plug with the 14mm wrench. Pull out the plug and let the oil drain for 10 to 15 minutes. Check the gasket and threads for damage. Replace these components, if necessary.

  5. Step 5

Take off the oil filter with an oil filter wrench. Dump the old oil into the oil drip pan and put on the new oil filter. Tighten the oil filter by hand and use the wrench to replace the oil drain plug. Clean off any excess oil.

  6. Step 6

Go under the hood and add oil. Turn on the engine and check that the oil pressure gauge rises. If it doesn't, turn the car off and add more oil.

  7. Step 7

Lower your Mitsubishi 3000GT and turn off the engine. Take an oil reading on the dipstick. If the oil level isn't at full, add more oil.

Tips & Warnings
  • Put the used oil into old plastic containers and take it to an auto parts store or gas station. Most of these places have oil disposal containers for customers
