Cure Curling Iron Burns

Nearly everyone who has ever used a curling iron has been burned from time to time. The good news is that there are simple ways to speed healing and reduce the chance of scarring. The healing methods outlined in this article can be used on burned skin whether or not a curling iron caused the injury. To reverse the damage, applying topical treatments to the skin and taking nutritional supplements are both advised. Before treating the burn using the methods mentioned here, expose the skin to cool water for up to 30 minutes to lower its temperature, and clean the area using disinfecting hydrogen peroxide. Avoiding infection is important in minimizing the formation of scar tissue.

Instructions

    • 1

Apply honey to fresh burns. Honey prevents infection, softens skin nand both prevents and heals scar tissue. Honey can also heal older burns and scars, including those from previous surgery, when applied regularly.

    • 2

Use apple cider vinegar to speed healing and prevent blistering of burned skin. Apple cider vinegar can also be used to treat sunburns and keep the skin from peeling.

    • 3

Rub lavender essential oil on a burn to speed recovery time and prevent bacteria from entering the wound. Tea Tree oil will work just as well.

    • 4

Place fresh papaya slices or fresh tomato wedges on burned or damaged skin. Both fruits contain enzymes that encourage the creation of new skin cells, collagen and elastin to help your skin renew itself. They also discourage scars from forming.

    • 5

Treat the burned area of skin daily with aloe vera. Break open, peel or bruise a leaf from a fresh plant or use pure aloe vera gel and rub it directly on the site. Follow this by applying the liquid from a broken capsule of Vitamin E. Doing so will encourage your skin to recover quickly without any sign of damage.

    • 6

Ensure that your daily diet during recovery is adequate in terms of both protein and calories. Be sure that you receive enough vitamin C, B-complex, selenium, zinc, copper and amino acids (such as glutamine and arginine) to assist your body in healing itself.

Tips & Warnings

  • For very serious burns over a large area of the body, seek medical attention.

  • Although these methods will help with any burn, they are most effective for minor to moderate burns on localized areas. Very severe or extensive burns can lead to sudden dehydration, shock and, in a few cases, cardiac arrest and death (as in automotive accidents, fires or explosions). In these events, get emergency help immediately.
