How to Make a Halloween Pumpkin Mask
Halloween accessories such as masks tend to be very expensive. Buying them for kids can be doubly expensive. You know, since children tend to break things. Making your Halloween pumpkin mask is a much more sensible option. Anyone who does a lot of crafting will probably have all of the materials for this project. Be sure to save cereal boxes, gift boxes and rubber bands from newspapers. Save them instead of recycling them or throwing them away. You will then have the supplies you need to make as many masks as you please.

1
Attach the string to one pencil. Measure out the radius you would like the pumpkin mask to be. Tie the other end of the string to the other pencil at that measurement. Place one pencil in the center of the unfinished side of the chipboard. Draw in a circle with the other pencil to create the circumference of the Halloween pumpkin mask.

2
Cut out the circle. You may trim the top of the mask to look more like a pumpkin with rougher edges. Make a stem.

-
3
Paint the pumpkin mask orange. If you're using a stem, paint it green. Allow the paint to dry. Attach the stem with craft glue and allow it to dry as well.
-
4
Draw semicircular lines down the pumpkin mask in permanent black marker. Gradually alter the curve of these lines to make the pumpkin mask look dimensional. The lines on the left side of the pumpkin should curve to the left. On the right of the pumpkin, they should curve right. The line in the middle should be straight.

5
Measure your child's face to get the dimensions of his eyes, nose and mouth. Lightly outline two triangular eyes, a nose and a jagged mouth on the front of the pumpkin mask that matches your child's measurements. Poke a hole in the center of these features with one point of the scissors. Carefully cut them out.

6
Punch a hole in both sides of the pumpkin mask. Cut open a large rubber band and tie the ends to the mask.

Don't rush through the project. Have your child try on the mask before Halloween to ensure that it fits properly. Change the size of the holes and adjust the length of the rubber band if necessary.
