    • 1

Know how to move Kratos. Your god-of-war-to-be can jump and even double-jump over greater distances. He can move objects, lift great weight and swing dual-blades of divine death. Get familiar with his skills early in the game. Kratos also can finish enemies with button sequences for greater points and rewards.

    • 2

Get used to interactive scenes. All bosses in "God of War" are defeated via interactive button-mashing scenes. Be prepared, because missing a button can be the only thing between ending a drawn-out battle and returning to the fight with little health left.

    • 3

Use magic cautiously. While it's there to turn enemies to stone or release lightning into your foes, use your magic sparingly. It's much better saved on the larger foes that await Kratos toward the end of the levels.

    • 4

Open up all chests. Keep your Spartan eyes peeled as chests of health, level-ups and life increase. Chests tend to sit in corners of rooms, deserted buildings or even underwater. Take a moment to look around and make the effort to get to a chest no matter where it lies. They mean the difference between life, death and godhood.

Complete all the mini-games. Beyond being "entertaining," the in-game mini-games guarantee you more health.
