If you live in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania you may need to find a dentist. Maybe you just moved to the area or maybe your old dentist finally retired. Find a dentist in Pittsburgh by looking online and asking for referrals from people you know.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet access
  1. Step 1

Ask your current dentist for a referral to someone new. If you currently live in Pittsburgh, they should be able to point you towards one in the same general area. If you’re planning on moving to the area, your hometown dentist might be able to find someone they know of or someone they knew in the past.

  2. Step 2

Visit the American Dental Association website to use their online referral form (see Resources). This form allows you to find a dentist based on a number of different criteria including specialty and location. Once you enter in the information, their database will find all practicing dentists in the Pittsburgh location based on your preferences.

  3. Step 3

Check with people you know in the area and see if they have someone they particularly like. It could be a neighbor, co-worker, friend or even a relative. Most people have no problem touting the joys of a great professional. You may discover the perfect dentist in Pittsburgh just by asking for help.

  4. Step 4

Use the Dentist Directory (see Resources) to find a Pittsburgh dentist if you have certain requirements the person must fulfill. This website lets you search not only be specialty, but also by languages they speak and any specialty services they may provide. When you need an office that’s open 24 hours a day or for emergencies, this is a great place to go.

  5. Step 5

Call your insurance provider if you have dental insurance. Your provider can tell you who they recommend in Pittsburgh for dental practices. In addition they may give you a list of dentists in the city that accept your insurance plan.

Tips & Warnings
  • Try visiting a few dentists if you’re not sure you’ll like one specifically or if you have problems with the first dentist you meet. It may take several trips before you find someone in Pittsburgh you actually want working on your teeth.
  • Don’t be afraid to ask for help from those around you. Even if the first few people don’t have a regular dentist or refuse to help, eventually you’ll find someone who will.
