How to Make Herbal Sleep Pillows
Herbs have long been known for their ability to safely help you sleep. Use herbs in teas, tonics, concoctions mixed with alcohol to simply smelling their scent to help you relax.With these simple instructions, you can make small scented pillows that will give you sweet dreams! Things You'll Need
- 2 5-Inch Pieces of Matching Fabric
- Sewing Machine
- Thread
- Dried Herbs:
- Lavendar
- Golden Hop
- Rose
- Chamomile
- Marjoram
- Valerian
- Monarda (Bee Balm)
- Lemon Verbena

Making Herbal Sleep Pillows

Place the pieces of fabric together with the right sides facing each other. Sew three sides using a 1/2 inch seam and a small (12) stitch.

Create the mixture of scented herbs you find most pleasant; you will need less than 3/4 cup for a pillow.

Turn the fabric so that the right sides are out and gently place the herbs inside.

Hold the bag on a table, with the open top up. Fold the unsewn edges down inside about 1/2 inch and pin or baste it closed.

Sew the seam on the sewing machine very close to the edge using a small stitch. Trim the threads and gently distribute the herbs throughout.Place this under your pillow.

Tips & Warnings
Lavender is well known for its sweet, fresh scent, so use it liberally. Hops and valerian induce sleep but don't smell particularly good, so use just a small amount.
These make great gifts; making more than one at a time is simple when you sew all the bags at the same time.
Keep out of the reach of children and pets.
