Are you headed to an Oktoberfest celebration? Make your own pretzel necklace and munch away like the seasoned veterans while enjoying the festival. You can use soft or hard pretzels for your creation. While Oktoberfest is an adult-oriented celebration, children may also enjoy making these necklaces to wear and chomp while on long road trips or outings.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 frozen soft pretzel
  • Cotton twine
  • 2 large hard pretzels
  • Red, yellow and black ribbon
  1. Step 1

Prepare the soft pretzel according to the instructions, if using. Allow soft pretzel to cool completely. Put it in the refrigerator to make it more solid.

  2. Step 2

Cut a length of twine long enough to make a large loop around your neck (between 24 and 36 inches). Lay it flat on a table or counter top.

  3. Step 3

Thread the twine through the loops of one of the hard pretzels, going over and under so that the pretzel lays flat. Cut two small pieces of colored ribbon and tie them tightly on either side of the pretzel, securing it to the twine. Repeat with the soft pretzel, then the other hard pretzel

  4. Step 4

Triple knot the ends of the twine and slip the necklace over your head.

Tips & Warnings
  • Try variations on the number and type of pretzels used for this project, depending on your tastes.
  • Always be careful while eating and walking, as this action presents a choking hazard.
