How to Acquire the Ranger Kivan in "Baldur's Gate"
The ranger named Kivan is an angry man of few words hell bent on tracking down and killing the bandits who murdered his wife. He is one of the most versatile warriors available in the PC role-playing game Baldur's Gate, having a high level of skill with both long-range bow attacks and direct physical combat. Kivan can be found near the town of Beregost, searching out the bandit's camp.

Travel east from the Library of Candlekeep until the party hits the main road that runs north and south along the Sword Coast.

Move south down the Sword Coast to the town called Beregost.

Leave Beregost by traveling west and go to the area marked on the map as "High Hedge."

Find the ranger named Kivan near the large building in High Hedge.

Speak with Kivan and let him know that you will help him hunt down the bandits who have been plaguing the area, and he will then join the party as a playable character.

Tips & Warnings
Although Kivan is a ranger with a high dexterity, he has an even higher strength score, so don't be afraid to equip him with a sword and send him out into melee combat.
Unlike the other characters in the game, Kivan will not re-join the party later if you kick him out.
