Halloween bookmarks are a nice giveaway at school, the library or at a Halloween party. Orange Jack O' Lanterns, whimsical green-faced witches or Frankenstein's monster, white ghost, black cat and scarecrow can be made.

  • Yarn
  • E Crochet hook
  • Felt
  • Embroidery floss for hair

Instructions

    • 1

      Chain 4, form ring, single crochet in each stitch.

    • 2

      Row 2: Chain 1, single crochet two times in each single crochet around. Slip stitch to join.

    • 3

      Row 3: Chain 1, skip 1 stitch, single crochet in next stitch around for 4 single crochets.

    • 4

      Push hook across and through the other side, slip stitch.

    • 5

      Yarn over, slip stitch again to close the hole.

    • 6

      Keep yarn intact and chain 41 stitches. Hold chain to keep it even as you crochet.

    • 7

      Insert hook in second chain from hook. Draw yarn through. Single crochet down the length of the chain. Turn and single crochet back up the chain for a flat marker.

    • 8

      Slip stitch into bottom of pumpkin to close up the hole and stabilize head. Glue on felt features for Jack O' Lantern face. Use different colors for other Halloween character bookmarks.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be sure to keep chain flat so it will not twist.
