How to Choose Artwork for Your Kitchen

There’s no room in your home that should be left without some form of artwork in it, and the kitchen is no exception. Many people spend a lot of time in their kitchens; it’s one of the most used rooms in the home. It should be decorated with artwork that you would love to look at over a great meal.       Put out a picturesque cutting board. Some are made of glass and come with a scratch resistant surface so you won’t damage it. The pictures can be beautiful, so it’s not only useful but can be displayed as art.

      Display collectible plates. Many people collect plates that are not meant to eat off of, but are meant to hang up for everyone to see. Some choose to put it in the china cabinet, but a great place to display it is in the kitchen on the wall. Since plates are small, you won’t have to worry if you don’t have a lot of wall space. Your local hardware store should have good quality plate display hangers.

      Create your own artwork. Take a picture of your favorite foods or just of those that look interesting. Put it in a frame that is a shade that matches the colors in your kitchen and hang it on your wall. The only cost to you is to buy the frame and to print out the picture.

      Put up a kitchen prayer. If you are religious, you may like the idea of displaying one on the wall. Choose from quite a few prayers. Display it on the wall where you can see it on a daily basis whether you are eating or cooking. They come in the form of a plaque or a print. If you choose a print, put it in a simple frame that matches the other colors of the room.

      Use decorative tins. Put in sugar, tea bags, coffee or any other kitchen product that you would like. Some tins look more beautiful than paintings, but don‘t take up as much space. Not only are they useful for storing, but they also fit right on your counter where you can view them easily.

  • Don’t overdo it with the artwork. One or two pieces work well in the kitchen. Many kitchens are small as it is, too many pieces would only make the room look smaller.
