Joomla is a popular content management system (CMS) that is free to use. Using a CMS makes it easy to add and manage content on your website. As easy as Joomla is to use, there will still be times when you need to insert some old-style HTML code into one of your pages. Fortunately, the architects behind this CMS thought of this in advance, and have made it very easy to use HTML with Joomla.

        Log In

        Log into the administrator control panel for the Joomla CMS on your website. The login screen is typically located at “yoursite.com/administrator/” (where “yoursite” is the domain name of your website). Simply enter the user name and password you chose when Joomla was installed, and click the “Login” button.

        Article Manager

        Find the button marked “Article Manager” and click on it. This button should be the second button in the top row.

        Select Article

        Select an article. From the article manager, look for the article you would like to add HTML to and click on the title to edit the article. Or, if you are creating a new page to add HTML to, you can simply click the “New” button at the top of the screen.

        HTML Button

        Look for the "HTML" button. There will be a text editor on the article composition screen. Locate the “HTML” button on this screen. It will be located between the paint brush and the binoculars. Click this button to open the HTML editor in Joomla.

        Edit HTML

        Type your HTML into the HTML Source Editor or copy and paste your scripts into the box. After you are finished with the source code, click the "Update" button to apply the changes to the body of your document.

        Save Document

        Click the "Save" button to save your document and publish it to your website.

    Tips & Warnings

    • If you find that you click the "HTML" button every time, you can save time by going to "Global Configurations" and turning off the "Tiny MCE" text editor. You will then automatically be in HTML mode every time you open a document.
