How to Install a Car Alarm in a Ford Taurus
Installing an alarm system in a Ford Taurus takes patience and knowledge of car electrical systems. You can add additional options like remote start or a security paging system with more complex alarm kits as well. Placing the control module behind the stereo in a Ford Taurus makes this an especially secure installation.

1
Read the alarm installation instruction manual carefully as connections and sensor placement varies greatly between manufacturers. Open the hood and remove the positive battery cable. Locate the wire bundle that runs through the firewall in front of the steering wheel and remove the plug from inside the engine bay.
-
2
Mount the alarm siren in an open area, facing the engine to limit water contact when driving. Run the wires along the body or firewall towards the wire bundle. Connect the alarm command module power wire to the positive battery cable and secure it along the firewall. Slip all of the wires through the rubber grommet of the wire bundle and feed the wires into the car interior. Replace the grommet.

Cut a wire hanger into two 8-inch lengths and bend them into a "U" shape. Push the ends of the hangers into the radio removal holes and push the hangers to the outside of the radio while pulling slightly. Remove the stereo and set it aside.

4
Place the alarm control module behind the radio space and tie it to the wire bundle with a zip tie. Mount the shock sensor per the manufacturer's instructions and run the wires under the dash, to the control module.
-
5
Locate the power door relay above the fuse box if the car is equipped. Snap in the door alarm module and feed the wires to the command module. Locate the starter wire under the steering column and connect the start disable relay.
-
6
Connect the power, shock sensor, start disable and siren wires to the alarm control module. Reconnect the positive battery cable on the Ford Taurus and test the alarm. Adjust the sensitivity as needed.
