How to Nake Yarn From Old T-Shirts

Going green is all about recycling, and what better way is there to recycle than by giving old clothes a new life? This tutorial will show you how to turn an old T-shirt into basic material that can then be used in a new creation.

Things You'll Need

• Scissors
• Old T-shirt
• Invisible-ink pen
• Ruler

Instructions

1. Lay the old T-shirt flat.

2. Cut off the bottom hem of the shirt.

3. With the invisible ink pen and ruler, draw diagonal lines 1 inch apart along the front and back of the shirt. The lines should run into each other and create a spiral.

4. Cut along the lines. If you're feeling brave, you can also skip the lines when cutting the T-shirt in a spiral.

5. Roll the strip vertically so that it creates a thin jersey yarn. Your T-shirt yarn is ready for knitting or crocheting.
