German roaches are the most common type of roach and are particularly loathed by homeowners as they can invade your home in no time at all. All it takes is for one roach with an egg sac to come into your home and in a month, you can be infested. These bugs can be brought in from the grocery store or from a neighbor's house and they are nearly impossible to get rid of. However, there are ways to kill German roaches.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Fly swatter
  • Glue boards
  • Roach motels
  • Roach spray
  • Boric acid
  1. Step 1

Place some boric acid along baseboards, under cabinets and behind appliances. Make sure that whereever you set boric acid out that children cannot get to it. It also needs to be put out in places that aren’t going to get wet. Boric acid loses its potency when damp or wet.

  2. Step 2

Set out roach motels and glue boards in areas of heavy roach traffic. Make sure that roach motels are kept out of reach of children because they can cause kids to get sick. Be especially careful of glue boards, because if a child sticks it to their face, they could smother before it is removed.

  3. Step 3

Use a can of roach spray to kill the roaches. You have to be careful with roach sprays. Some of them work extremely well, while others are like spraying water on the roaches.

  4. Step 4

Call an exterminator that specializes in roaches. There are some really good exterminators out there, so try to find one through a recommendation of a friend or coworker.

  5. Step 5

Squash them with a fly swatter or shoe. If all else fails, stepping on them or squashing them with something hard will definitely kill roaches. It won't rid your home of an infestation, however.

  6. Step 6

Once German roaches have infested a home or building, it is hard to get rid of them. However, there are some things you can do to prevent an infestation. Keeping your house clean helps a lot. This means no piles of clothes or toys on the floors or dirty dishes in the sink. You need to dry the dishes, too. Pets need to be kept clean and their food needs to be stored in sealed containers. Fix any leaky pipes or faucets. German roaches like hot and wet areas, so inside appliances and under sinks are a favorite location for them. They also like to be inside of dark walls.

Tips & Warnings
  • German roaches are very prevalent in America. They are smaller than the American cockroach and do not fly like their larger cousins.
  • Make sure that all poisons put out to control and kill roaches are kept out of reach of children. Store them out of reach as well.

on 10/25/2008 I had a German roach infestation in my house and i went online to see if there was a way i can eliminate them and i came across a website called
www.acepestcontrolproducts.com

They gave me very useful information and how to's. I bought cockroach gel and bait for the inside of my home. I placed the stations under my appliances and places that are moist and warm. I also applied gel to corners of the kitchen, in cracks of appliances, under counters and cabinets and sinks. My roach infestation disappeared in couple of weeks!!!

People should go check them out! Their instructions are easy to understand and simple to follow, not to mention their prices are cheap!!
