1
Pat out the burger patties. Shape the patties however big or small and thick or thin that you want them. Remember that ground beef shrinks up when cooking, so take that into account when sizing.
-
2
Place the burgers in the skillet and turn the burner on medium heat. Make sure the handle is turned away from the front of the stove, especially if you have children.

-
3
Place a lid on the skillet. This will prevent grease from spattering all over the stove, making more of a job for you to clean up.
-
4
Cook the burgers for about 8 minutes and then flip them over in the pan. Cook for 7 or 8 more minutes. It doesn't take long to cook burgers, just watch them so they won't burn.
-
5
Take the spatula and press the corner in the middle of the burger. Next, gently press the spatula down on the burger. If the burger is done, then clear juices will bubble up. If the juices are not clear, then cook for a few minutes more and then check again by pressing on the burger.

Tips & Warnings
Burgers can be made from ground beef, ground chuck, ground round or even ground turkey.
Burgers can be cooked in the skillet with a little water added. This will help to cook some of the grease out of the burgers, which makes them just a little bit healthier than just plain skillet frying. Another way is to partially cook the burgers and then add a gravy base and finish cooking them while the gravy thickens around the burgers.
You can also add onions, peppers, Parmesan cheese or spices to the burger mixture before shaping out the patties.
Make sure that you use a potholder when taking the lid off of the skillet, because the lid might be hot.
Be careful with the hot grease as it can cause terrible burns.
