20% of all women have a retroverted uterus, also known as a "tipped uterus" but most are unaware. This condition often runs in families so it's likely someone else in your family also has it. Having a retroverted uterus can make conceiving difficult as well as making normal sexual intercourse painful.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Try to regulate your periods. Women with a retroverted uterus may have irregular periods and can find it hard to regulate them even with current treatments ex: birth control pills. After having regular periods use an ovulation kit to see when your peak ovulation occurs.

Note: Regular periods are not necessary but they do help considerably.

  2. Step 2

Make sure your partner has been wearing loose fitting clothing ie. Boxers instead of briefs etc. The temperature of the groin region is important for proper sperm health. Also, make sure to give a few days in between each intercourse session for optimum sperm production.

  3. Step 3

During intercourse make sure to do only those positions that keep the woman flat or pelvis slightly elevated as possible. Do not have the woman vertical or any way gravity can inhibit the sperm reaching the uterus. Due to the inverted uterus (being tilted towards the woman's back) she'll want to minimize getting up afterwards for at least 15-20 minutes.

  4. Step 4

After intercourse, it can be useful to raise the pelvis slightly to aid the sperm getting through the cervix and into the uterus. Take a pillow and place it under the lower back to raise the pelvis higher than the rest of the body. Make sure the woman is lying flat with the pelvis raised. Stay in this position for at least 15-20 minutes the longer in this position the better as it gives the sperm lots of time to reach their target.

  5. Step 5

Lastly, take it easy and relax. Do not stress because that can impede fertilization and implantation into the uterus. Don't give up and keep trying this method. It may be harder with an retroverted uterus to get pregnant but there are simple things you can do to increase the chances of pregnancy. Good luck!

on 7/21/2009 It's amazing how many women have a "tilted" uterus. Even more amazing how we get pregnant :) I always feel bad for women that go through painful fertility procedures when there may be a non-invasive way to get pregnant. Good luck in your baby making adventures my second is now 9 mo old.
