How to Make a Lime Margarita

Complement your sweet lime margarita with a salty rim.

Cool down on a hot day with a homemade margarita. Use fresh lime juice for the best flavor, but if you don't have any on hand bottled lime juice will do. For a complement to the sweetness of the drink, rim your glasses with salt. For a perfect salt rim, pour kosher salt into a saucer until it is about 1/4 inch deep. Run a lime wedge around the rim of the glass, invert glass and place in salt. Remove glass and turn upright. To make simple syrup, mix equal parts sugar and water in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until sugar melts, remove from heat and allow to cool.

Things You'll Need

• 4 ounces tequila
• 1 1/2 ounces orange flavored liqueur
• 1 1/2 ounces lime juice
• 2 ounces simple syrup
• 2 cups ice
• Kosher salt
• Lime wedges
• Blender

Instructions

1. Combine tequila, orange flavored liqueur, lime juice, simple syrup and ice in blender.

2. Blend until ice is crushed.

3. Pour margaritas into salt-rimmed margarita glasses. Garnish with lime wedges and serve.

Tips & Warnings

• If you don't have a blender or prefer your drinks on the rocks, mix ingredients in a cocktail shaker and strain over ice.

• The legal drinking age is 21.
