Set up your garden. If you haven't already, pick a window in your house that gets a lot of sunlight during the day. You also want a window that is unobstructed by trees or bushes, with plenty of direct sunlight. If you want to put your herbs on the patio using a patio plot, make sure you put the patio plot in an area that gets an even amount of sunlight. If you can't find a spot that gets even sunlight, try to put it in a spot where you can easily rotate the plot periodically.

If you are planting starters, you will probably be ready for your first harvest in 2 to 4 weeks, depending on the herb you are growing. If you started from seeds, then you'll probably need to wait 6 to 8 weeks, again depending on the herb.
