throw a 80's party

Have you ever wanted to throw a themed 80's party. If you need party ideas and invitation ideas then you will want to read on.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Pick a date and location for your party. It is important to consider the amount of guests you will be inviting to the party.

  2. Step 2

    Write out your guest list and send invitations. You can make this on your computer. Something you may want to include;
"We are having a totally awesome 80's party. OHMIGAWD"
"You totally have to dress up for sure" Think big hair, wham, madonna, michael jackson.
"We are going to have a totally awesome time"

  3. Step 3

Plan your food for the party. Consider the foods that were available during the 80's. A list of some items from that decade that you may want to include are:

    Funyons
Marshmallow fluff and peanut butter sandwiches
    Pop rocks candy
    Fanta pop
    Chicken wings

  4. Step 4

Decorate for the party. You should really try to recreate the atmosphere of the 80's in your decorations. This is really what will have your guests talking when they leave. Some ideas when decorating are:
    1. Hang pictures of popular singers either printed on large posters or regular paper depending on how much room you have. (some examples of pictures are in the resources)
    2. Put colored light bulbs in the lights or find a disco ball to hang.
    3. Use bright colored streamers to hang.
    4. You can put splash paint on an old white sheet and drape it over your couch.
    5. Remember break dancing - find a place where you can put a flattened box on the floor for those that feel they really want to break into a spin on the floor.
    6. Have a blank posterboard on the wall or long sheet of paper and ask your guests to bring a picture of themselves from the 80's. Hang them on the wall for all of your guests to see.

  5. Step 5

Music, music, music....This makes the party. If possible try to find old videos from MTV (back when they were actually videos). If not download them onto your Ipod.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you want to make it even more special, provide your guests with a party gift bag at the end of the night. (rubiks cube, baseball card and pop rocks candy)
