Things You'll Need:
- Internet access
- telephone
-
Step 1
Browse different tattoo artists in your area, but do not instantly decide based on price, location, etc. It is really easy to google locations near you.
-
Step 2
Call several artists, ask them their shop minimum, how long they've been tattooing and what type of experience they have. If you are looking to get a large tattoo, ask what their hourly rate is, if they have one. But again, do NOT choose an artist based solely on price!
-
Step 3
Go to several shops and look through their portfolios. Try to judge their skill and quality level based on their previous work. If they will allow you to, watch someone else get a tattoo from them first.
-
Step 4
Ask them about their cleanliness standards, trust me you'll want to know.
-
Step 5
The most important thing to remember is that when you get a tattoo, it is permanent, it will be on your body forever. Do NOT be cheap, do NOT just go to the lowest priced artist. You will get a lower quality tattoo and have to live with it for life. Spend the extra cash to get a high quality tattoo that you will be proud of forever!
-
Step 6
Once you have decided on an artist, sit down with them and have them sketch out what you want done. Make sure it is exactly how you want it. Again this is a forever piece of art on your body!
-
Step 7
When you are ready to get your tattoo, MAKE SURE TO WATCH THE ARTIST OPEN A CLEAN SEALED NEEDLE! It is VERY important that you make sure the needle is brand new and CLEAN.
-
Step 8
If you live in Washington State, check out Concept Body Art in Fife, WA. Ask for Celeste or Gary, both are amazing high quality, clean and safe artists in a tattoo shop with an art gallery feel! (myspace.com/conceptbodyart)
