Bathtubs can be a breeding ground for germs and bacteria. Read this simple guide for an easy and thorough cleaning.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Bathtub cleaning product
  • Sponge
  • Water
  • Shower "walk away" spray
  1. Step 1

Begin by removing the shower curtain and shower curtain liner. You can wash a fabric shower curtain in the washing machine. Vinyl shower curtains and shower curtain liners can be cleaned with a sponge and a shower/tub cleaning product, such as Tilex or Soft Scrub.

  2. Step 2

Start at the ceiling and work your way down. Clean the ceiling, walls, and bathtub with the cleaning product. Make sure you clean under any shampoo, conditioner, or body wash bottles. Clean the soap tray.

  3. Step 3

If the walls in your shower and bathtub are tiled, make sure you clean in between all of the tiles. Mildew and bacteria can easily build up here.

  4. Step 4

Wipe down the faucet and temperature handles. Clean the shower head.

  5. Step 5

Rinse your sponge and then use it to rinse the cleaning product off of the ceiling, walls, tub surfaces, and hardware.

  6. Step 6

Re-hang the shower curtain and curtain liner. Rinse out the bathtub mat, if you have one.

  7. Step 7

Spray your shower, bathtub, and vinyl liner/curtain with a "walk away" shower spray. Tilex and Clean Shower both make this kind of product. Repeat daily to keep the shower and bathtub clean.

Tips & Warnings
  • Wear gloves so as not to chemically burn your hands or fingers.
  • You may want to wipe down your shower curtain hangers.
  • Do not inhale cleaning products while you are working. Keep the area ventilated.
