Things You'll Need:
- Needle
- thread
- canvas
-
Step 1
Choose an area on your canvas. It should be an area that will be completely covered later.
-
Step 2
Start with a diagonal waste knot. Then, come up where you want the point of the "L" to be.
-
Step 3
Stick the needle through one hole away from where the thread came up.
-
Step 4
Pull the stitch snugly on the canvas.
-
Step 5
Next, bring the needle one stitch away from where the the 2 stitches will meet. The diagonal waste knot from earlier will provide nice anchorage for this stitch.
-
Step 6
Put the needle through the hole where you started the stitch in (Step 1).
-
Step 7
Pull nice and snug.
-
Step 8
Turn the canvas over so that the back is facing up. Pull the thread under the stitch made from step 4. Both threads for the L Stitch should be anchored by this diagonal.
-
Step 9
Pull it tight. It should resemble a half knot.
-
Step 10
Now you are done with the L Stitch. You may now stitch over the L stitch with heavier stitching. After doing so, you may cut off the waste knot and any excess threads.
