MY FAVORITE PICTURE BUT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE RECIPE!

IN THIS ARTICLE YOU WILL LEARN HOW TO MAKE CINNAMON CHRISTMAS TREE ORNAMENTS. THEIR CINNAMON SMELL WILL MOST LIKELY TO LAST A LIFETIME!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 7 tbsp. warm applesauce
  • 10 tbsp. cinnamon
  • CUTTING BOARD
  • DRINKING STRAW
  • WOODEN ROLLING PIN
  1. Step 1

MIX WARM APPLESAUCE AND CINNAMON TOGETHER TO FORM A BALL.

  2. Step 2

Sprinkle cinnamon on the cutting board and roll out to 1/4 inch thick.

  3. Step 3

Cut out with cookie cutters. Use a plastic drinking straw to press a hole which you use for hanging.

  4. Step 4

Place on cake racks and put in 150 degree oven. Leave the door ajar with a pot holder.

  5. Step 5

Dry 8 hours or overnight. Coat cookies with clear acrylic or varnish and allow cookies to dry thoroughly.

  6. Step 6

AFTER THEY ARE DRY YOU CAN ALSO DECORATE THEM! Paint cookies with acrylic paints as desired. Allow paint to dry thoroughly. Thread a 5- to 6-inch length of narrow ribbon or cording through the hole at the top of each ornament. Knot ends and hang ornaments. String gingerbread people together to make a gingerbread garland or a gingerbread wreath. Coat cookies with an additional layer of clear acrylic or varnish to protect paint.

Tips & Warnings
  • THESE ARE NOT TO EAT!
  • EXPLAIN TO SMALL CHILDREN THAT THEY ARE FOR LOOKS AND SMELL!

on 9/13/2008 Now only if you could eat them while you take the tree down after Christmas! These ornaments sounds like you might want to make them with the children. They might get a kick out it.

on 9/10/2008 I made something similar once, but my directions did not have an acrylic coat. We wrapped them in plastic so the recipient of the gift would not smell the cinnamon until opening. When she opened the wrapping paper she viewed a brown gloppy mess. I guess they weren't dry enough either. I will have to try your method. Thanks.
