Things You'll Need:
- Screwdrivers
- Wire strippers
- New light fixture

Step 1
Start by either turning power off at breaker box or, simply make sure light switch is off on a single pole switch.Using an Electrical Tester to double check is preferred, in case of different wiring variations. Removing your old light fixture. Usually, there are finial nuts or a larger decorative nut. Unscrew to disassemble fixture,and remove wire nuts.Unscrew ground wire from cross bar.

Step 2
Remove and replace or reuse cross bar if compatible with new fixture.In most cases you will wire the black wire of the new fixture, to the black wire. Which will be the power wire or hot wire.you will tie the white wire to the white wire,which are the neutrals.Screw ground wire which is the bare wire in the junction box to the crossbar with the green screw.Tie grounds together with wire nuts to the green wire on the fixture.

Step 3
Check wire connections by tugging on each wire to make sure you have a good connection with the wire nuts.Push excess wire and wire nuts up inside the junction box.Apply new fixture to mounting box,and use decorative nut or finial.Make sure fixture is snug and secure.Add light bulbs and turn power or switch on.Presto a new light fixture.
