A quick and easy way to make a special and scrumptious cake, using cake mix and a few basic ingredients.

After making this cake a few times you'll be able to do it by heart.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Yellow Cake Mix
  • vegetable oil
  • eggs
  • instant pudding mix
  • rum
  • butter
  • sugar
  • bundt pan
  1. Step 1

Begin by greasing a bundt pan and pre-heating oven, according to cake mix directions.

  2. Step 2

Prepare the batter according to the package directions, except add one box of instant vanilla pudding. Pour into bundt pan and bake according to directions.

  3. Step 3

After removing cake from oven, let cool. Remove from pan and place on a large plate (several inches bigger than cake)

Meanwhile, melt 3/4 of a stick of butter over low heat in a frying pan. Stir in 1 cup of sugar and slowly add 1 cup of rum. Keep temperature low enough that butter doesn't brown.

  4. Step 4

Pour rum mixture slowly over cake, letting it drip down the sides. Some of the mixture will absorb into the cake, the rest will cool to form a glaze.

Tips & Warnings
  • This cake is delicious to eat the day you make it... it is even more delicious the next day!
  • To make a healthier version (though why bother!) you can reduce the oil required in the recipe by about 1/2. You can also reduce the amount of butter mixture you prepare. The cake will still be moist and delicious.
  • The best thing about this cake is that you can make lots of tweaks and it still comes out delicious!
  • This recipe contains alcohol and not all of the alcohol burns off in preparing the glaze. Those avoiding alcohol should not have this cake.
