What a smelly mess. This should help substantially.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Baking Soda Powder
  • Pinesol
  1. Step 1

First of all, Gasoline is an acidic petroleum base. So the problem needs to be met at that level.

  2. Step 2

Break the acidity down by rubbing Powdered Baking Soda into the carpet. Wet lightly and rub it in some more. Let dry and vacuum. Repeat about 3 times.

  3. Step 3

Spray the spot down with Pinsol, briskly brush it deep into the fibers to break up the petroleum. Let it set for an hour and blot dry it with a towel. Repeat as often as necessary.

on 1/29/2009 Gas station. Pump gas. Don't realize you stepped in spilled gas. Get back in car. Drive with feet on (carpeted) floor mat on (carpeted) floor. Not really hard to imagine. Happens all the time. Very good ideas. Thank you.
