Baked Ziti

Here is a simple way to make baked ziti that the whole family will enjoy!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 egg
  • 1 pound of ziti
  • 8oz Ricotta
  • 16oz Mozzarella
  • 24oz of sauce
  • large pot
  • large bowl
  • baking dish, aluminum or glass
  1. Step 1

After assembling all your ingredients in front of you, preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Boil water for ziti with a touch of olive oil so it doesn't stick together. I try to never add salt.

  2. Step 2

Boil the ziti for 10 minutes or until cooked. In the meantime, in the large bowl beat the egg. Mix in half the sauce and all the Ricotta. Shred half the mozzarella into the mixture and stir.

  3. Step 3

Drain the ziti and add to mixture. Pour entire ziti/ricotta/sauce mixture into a baking dish. Top with the rest of the sauce and then you can shred or slice the remainder of the mozzarella and lay on top of the sauce.

  4. Step 4

Bake for 15-20 minutes until cheese is melted on top. Serve and enjoy!

Tips & Warnings
  • Depending on the size of your family, this recipe can be split into two baking dishes. Then after baking the ziti, you can let it cool, and cover it to put in the freezer for a later date.
  • Perfect for a school night!
  • Cooked chopped meat can be added to mixture.

on 10/9/2008 As crazy as this may sound, I've been making it wrong! Thanks for the step by step. Believe it or not there are people out there like me, who have no clue how to cook even simple dishes.
