As a Christian, you may find it difficult to fit in Bible reading once a week, much less on a daily basis. But, faithfulness is important to living a fulfilled Christian life, and to learn how to live life in the first place, we have to learn God's rules for us from His Word. The following are basic steps to help you discipline yourself enough to keep reading the Bible every day.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • The Bible
  • A desire to learn about God through His Word
  1. Step 1

Determine the time of day when you can find 10 to 15 minutes of uninterrupted time.

  2. Step 2

Pray for guidance on what you should read.

  3. Step 3

Find a good study book to accompany your daily reading, or look up Bible reading plans on the Internet that allow you to read the Bible through in a year. You might also consider focusing your Bible studies on different themes like the life of Jesus, or the books written by Paul, or Old Testament heroes. When you structure your readings around themes, you're more likely to get more meaning from what you're reading. If you skip around, reading one or two verses from a different section every day, you're probably not going to realize the overall message that those verses are trying to convey.

  4. Step 4

Make Bible reading a priority to your spiritual growth. Our pastor commented that not many of us would intentionally go a day without eating food, but wondered why so many of us go a day or many days without feeding on the spiritual nourishment that we get from the Bible.

Tips & Warnings
  • Start with little steps and don't get overwhelmed. Make Bible reading a part of your daily routine a little bit at a time.
