This meatless "mincemeat" has a very pleasant taste and texture. The recipe makes one 8 inch pie and has been equally enjoyed by vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 3 large firm red apples, peeled and chopped
  • 1/2 cup figs, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons sunflower seeds, chopped
  • 1/4 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon cloves
  1. Step 1

    In a heavy saucepan, place all ingredients.

    Bring to a very, slow simmer and continue to simmer for 20 minutes.

  2. Step 2

    Stir the mixture occasionally to prevent sticking.

    Remove from heat.

    Cool.

  3. Step 3

    Store well covered.

    Refrigerate if not to be used immediately.
