A nice Sloppy Joe recipe that won't be sloppy when you eat it.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Frying Pan and Crock Pot
  • Bell Peppers
  • Onion and Garlic
  • Seasoning
  • Olive Oil
  • Petite Diced Tomatoes
  • Crushed Tomatoes
  • Tomatoe Sauce
  • Hamburger
  • Bisquick
  • Milk
  1. Step 1

Heat large frying pan and add cooking oil of choice.
Dice red and green bell peppers very small and start cooking in frying pan
Dice onion and garlic and save

  2. Step 2

While peppers cook, break up hamburger – do not scramble
Use Corned Beef too, if desired
    Braze meat in separate pan
When peppers start to lose their color – add onions and garlic

  3. Step 3

Stop cooking peppers before edges turn brown – leave a little crunch
Add tomato sauces and meat into frying pan or slow cooker.
Add 1/3 cup BBQ Sauce, 1 TBS Mustard, 1 TBS Vinegar, and I tsp each of Oregano, Parsley, Basil, Cummin, Salt, and Pepper
    Simmer for 30-60 minutes

  4. Step 4

    Biscuits
    Heat oven to 400 degrees
Mix two cups of Bisquick and 1 cup Milk in a bowl
Put globs of Bisquick onto a cookie sheet and bake for 8 minutes
Break up biscuits in a bowl and top with Sloppy Joe
Eat with a spoon - not so sloppy

Tips & Warnings
  • Use a combination of Tomatoe Sauce, Crushed Tomatoes, and Diced Tomatoes to obtain the consistancy you prefer.
  • Don't let the edges of the bell peppers turn brown. When the pepper turns from bright green to light green, it's probably done.
  • The onions only needs about half the cooking time of the peppers.
