Spore

Spore, a new creature creator video game, will be on sale September 7th, 2008 and it is meant to be played by everyone. Here are some tips on how to get started playing Spore.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Spore
  • Computer
  1. Step 1

Spore is like five video games in one. You start out as a cell and make your way through the video game until you reach space. You can skip right past any stage you are not interested in, but when playing the game for the first time, you have to do the stages in order. You also can make vehicles and houses and everything you make, can be shared and used by other players.

  2. Step 2
    Cell

    Cell

As a Cell, or sometimes referred to as a Tide Pool, you will guide your cell around and try to keep from being eaten while eating smaller cells to keep you alive. Once you have eaten several cells then you can edit your body. You soon will realize that you need to adapt and add features such as claws in order to keep from being eaten by others. Keep your eye out for Golden Shields that give you new parts to choose from.

  3. Step 3

As a Creature, you will also need to adapt and add features in order to keep from being eaten by others. As you learn to survive you can adapt yourself to earn DNA points, reproduce, and avoid being eaten by predators. You will need to socialize, mate and be able to fight. Your goal is to increase your creature's brain capacity by gaining DNA points. The game progresses to the next level when your creature becomes intelligent.

  4. Step 4

At the Tribe level your physical development stops. You will get a hut, a mini map and two super powers to get you started. You will interact with other tribes either peacefully or aggressively, i.e., make friends or destroy the tribe. Every time a tribe is befriended or destroyed you receive a piece of a totem pole and at five pieces, you move to the Civilization phase.

  5. Step 5

At the Civilization level the tribe becomes a city. You must decide if you will be conquering or uniting your city. At this point, you can build all kinds of land vehicles, aircraft, ships and submersibles. You will need to form alliances with a rival civilization. When you have become technologically advanced, the Space level appears.

  6. Step 6

When you reach the space level you can visit other players' planets, and interact with other players' species and civilizations. Your goal is to conquer other planets.
