Sometimes, it's necessary to cut a date short, no matter how well it's going. If that's the case, cutting it short is quite painful. But how do you cut it short when it's turning out to be a lousy date? Here are some ideas:

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

"I have a previous appointment." You could be meeting up with your best friend, your mom, your dog's vet, and even better, another guy. This is one excuse that accepts no argument from anyone.

  2. Step 2

"I'm expecting a delivery at home." You can be expecting a pizza delivery that you and your friend will order and share as the two of you review the evening's events.

  3. Step 3

"I have a flight to catch." Or you can say a bus or train. Any mode of public transportation will do. Make sure that you're not seen the next day roaming the neighborhood he frequents. He might see you.

  4. Step 4

"I'm headed to therapy." You can mean retail therapy, but how will he know that?

  5. Step 5

"I'm not feeling well." Some will even go as far as faking a sudden toothache, tummy ache or headache. A sick date is not a fun date. You'll be off the hook.

  6. Step 6

"They asked me to go back to the office." Work summons! How he responds to this will also show you how dedicated (or not) he is to his work.

  7. Step 7

"There's a family emergency!" Yes, your family called. They want to find out why you're out with him!

  8. Step 8

"It's just not working out." Straightforward. Honest. No beating around the bush.
