Keeping a bedroom closet neat and tidy seems to be an impossible feat. Never wanting to throw away old clothes, we move them towards the back of the rack, while adding new clothes towards the center. Even though our closet always appears to be full, we ''never have anything to wear''.Clean a Clothes Closet so you can fit in new clothes, and keep it clean by cleaning the clothes closet often.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 large plastic bags
  • hangers
  1. Step 1

Take 2 or 3 large plastic bags, and open the clothes closet door. Use one bag for any garbage accumulated. Clean a clothes closet and remove clothes that no longer fit, or are outdated. Put these into the other garbage bag to be given to charity.

  2. Step 2

Remove everything from the floor and shelves when you clean a clothes closet. Pick up any shoes or boxes that are on the floor. Vacuum the floor and dust the shelves. Take the shoes that do not fit, are not in style, or you do not like and toss into the bag for charity.

  3. Step 3

Put the clothes that no longer fit, out of style, or you that you will no longer wear into the bag for charity. Clean a clothes clost by assorting the clothes by type. All jackets and sweaters go together. Separate seasonal clothes, long gowns and slacks.

  4. Step 4

Hang the clothes on hangers, and place all the hangers the same way, with the opening towards the back. Shoes go on a shoe rack, purses on shelves, sweaters folded and placed one on the other on a shelf.

Tips & Warnings
  • Torn or clothes that can no longer be worn should go into the garbage bag.
  • If there is room, fold and place sweaters into a special zippered garment bag.
  • Take soiled items to the cleaners instead of replacing them.
  • Buy a shoe rack or shoe plastic hanging bag.
  • Place slacks together, as well as short dresses and long dresses.Leave some room between hangers. Do not shove them all together.
  • Once the closet is clean and organized, keep it that way by doing a cleaning job for each season.
  • When you replace a garment you no longer can wear, immediately place it into a bag set aside for charity.

on 9/6/2008 So true, so true. This is exactly what I have to do and we think alike because I have done this over and over for years now! Getting rid of the clothes that do not fit is the hardest thing to do, especially when they still have tags on them ! I love shopping. Great article. Thanks.
